I drew this on a normal classroom desk after school in the boarding establishment. I remember knocking it out on a friday before 5pm. The prject itself was inspired by something I did while paintg a huge school badge on the field, namely the grid method of resizing an image, something that I learnt in junior school in Newcastle. Our art teacher Miss Marie-Anne Heartly suddenly got the idea for a class project using the grid-resize method about a week afte I used it to paint the badge on the school field.

I painted this using a pallette knife, making it the first painting I have ever produced with this method. I was very much trying to emulate a style I have noticed is popular, while also trying to paint something I would like.

This is a girl I went to university with in Pietermaritzburg. Halfway through painting this Blake Gowans arrived at Justin Mitchell's apartment, where I was renting a room at the time, and gave me a tab of LSD. The Russia / Ukraine war began that minute, on the television.

the first full piece I produced using my newly purchased Wacom-pad after returning from the USA. I purchased some tech in USA because it was quite cheap compared to South African prices, if you could find the stuff in South Africa at all. I bought a Chrome-cast for my sister too.
